Following a career building online technology for the art world, Artlogic founder Peter Chater is developing new printing techniques using a laser engraver. Most of the etchings on this website were created using these methods.
His techniques allow artists to create hand-printed etchings directly from digital drawings or scans without requiring the use of acid (the traditional way of creating etchings).
The resulting etching plates are then inked, wiped and printed on an etching press in the traditional way, resulting in a hand-printed artwork with all the characteristics of traditional etchings.
